What materials are Crimsafe doors made from?

Crimsafe is a company known in Australia and overseas for protecting homes and businesses by supplying stainless steel security solutions. Crimsafe is the industry leader in stainless steel security screen products with over 20 years in the business. But what is Crimsafe made from?

Crimsafe materials include stainless steel security mesh, aluminium frames, and patented screw-clamp technology that locks stainless steel security mesh into the aluminium door or screen frame.

Due to their rigorous product testing, thick mesh, and screw-clamp system, Crimsafe products are proven stronger and harder to break into than competitors’. Customers benefit from safety, security, and much more when they invest in a Crimsafe security door.

Stainless Steel Mesh

Crimsafe uses Tensile-Tuff® Structural Grade 304 stainless steel. For reference, other security screens usually use 316 Marine steel. 304 stainless steel contains chromium and nickel, is durable, corrosion resistant, and comes at a lower cost than 316 marine steel.

Crimsafe’s 304 Structural Grade stainless steel mesh also has a higher tensile strength than 316, giving it a higher resistance against applied force and knifings.

Crimsafe’s Tensile-Tuff® mesh can block up to 53% of solar heat, 62% of UV rays, and 80% of flies, midges, and mosquitoes that enter the home. It makes your home more energy efficient, with the holes in the mesh only slightly larger than flyscreens to keep out unwanted pests.

Aluminium Frames

The structural-grade aluminium frames of every Crimsafe security screen are measured and custom-built to fit the doors and windows of the home. These frames clamp and lock into place with Crimsafe’s patented screw-clamp technology, which we will talk about below.

From the stainless-steel hinges that secure Crimsafe screen doors in place, to the three-point parrot-beak locks that provide more security than a deadbolt lock, every part of their security screens makes a difference in protecting your home or business.

Powder-coated for extra protection from the elements, Crimsafe’s aluminium frames are available in 15 colours to easily match the theme of a home or business.

Patented Screw-Clamp Technology

A key component of Crimsafe’s security doors is the patented Screw-Clamp™ system, which makes it nearly impossible for an intruder to break through.

The screw-clamp system works by clamping the stainless steel mesh between two sections of the aluminium frame. Specially made tamper-resistant screws then penetrate through the frame and into the mesh to securely lock it in place.

This technology prevents the mesh from being pulled away or pried open, creating a near-unbreakable connection, even under extreme force. This makes Crimsafe doors incredibly secure, with superior resistance to impact and forced entry.

Additional Features & Materials

Crimsafe screens also have a covering of Santoprene rubber which is a high-performance thermoplastic elastomer. This rubber is patented and has the structural composition of a polymer that provides the useful properties of rubber-like insulation while being easily processed like plastic.

Santoprene rubber provides protection against:

  • Rainfall

  • Salt build-up

  • UV

Why Are Crimsafe’s Materials Superior to Other Brands?

The combination of stainless steel mesh, aluminium frames, patented screw-clamp technology, and Santoprene rubber coverings makes Crimsafe security doors stand alone on the market.

Unlike brands such as Supascreen and ClearShield, Crimsafe doors have high-tensile strength mesh and an innovative clamping system to provide superior protection. Many competitor products use a plastic wedge or glue to hold the mesh in place, while Crimsafe’s screw-clamp transfers the force of an impact around the frame to keep the mesh intact and more resistant to intrusions.

Crimsafe is designed to not only meet, but to exceed the levels of strength, safety and performance set by Australian Standard. Crimsafe security doors look great, improve energy efficiency, are corrosion resistant, and have a minimum 10-year warranty.
